ANTI - CRACKER RALLY

Anti Cracker rally was organised to sensitize the general public about the ill effects of crackers. During the rally students carried attractive posters and shouted inspiring slogans. The students pledged to celebrate a 'Cracker-free Diwali'. A Nukkad Natak was also staged to promote awareness among people and observe ‘noise free’ and ‘pollution free’ festival.

HINDI SAPTAH

'Hindi Week' was celebrated to apprise the students about the importance of Hindi and motivate them to pursue the subject ardently. Various events were organised as part of the celebration. A special assembly was conducted wherein the students showcased their talent and adeptness at the language. Posters made by students were displayed. Poems and group songs were recited. Students also made presentations on the life and contribution of famous Litterateurs in Hindi literature.

Atal Tinkering Lab:- Tinker Fest

A two days 'Tinker Fest' was organized in Salwan Girls School on 12th & 13th July. A total of 51 students participated in this event from the school, Sister Institutions and neighbouring schools. They worked in groups and created innovative projects.

A team of 5 mentors conducted this workshop. Two of them were from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S. They worked in close coordination with the students and teachers. Children came up with ideas related to the problems faced by the community and worked on finding simple solutions; the very essence of the idea behind Tinkering Lab. All this tinkering culminated into 11 new projects, which were judged by the team of Mentors.

Our project; 'V-Security' was adjudged the best and was showcased at an exhibition in IIT Delhi on 15 July.

Celebration of 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement

On the momentous occasion of 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement, the school conducted a special assembly. Students confidently spoke about the Quit India movement and boosted the spirit of patriotism in all present. An ‘Oath ceremony’ was also carried out and the 'New India oath’ was administered to all the students and teachers. It was a pledge to eradicate the five problems the country is facing - poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism. The event also helped in sensitizing the youth towards the role of our freedom fighters and their struggle for the country’s freedom.

Message about protecting environment was conveyed through beautiful and inspiring posters prepared by the students during Van Mahotsav celebration. Students helped in planting medicinal plants like Neem, Tulsi etc. in the school. The event helped in strengthening the bond between ‘human’ and ‘nature.’

In Pursuit of Excellence in Mathematics….

Mathematics week (Ganit Saptah) was celebrated from 17 to 22 Dec,2016. A large number of students participated with vigour & zeal in an array of activities. The week commenced with the inaugural address by alumna; Megha Chabra, who inspired the young girls to take up Mathematics as it is all around us. The same was reinforced in the key note address by Maj. Gen. J. K. Kapoor, who has instituted cash rewards for students of classes VI-XII who excel in Mathematics.

“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”

Our school has started a campaign to support “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao”, an initiative by our Government to stop female foeticide and encourage female education.Various activities are carried out from time to time. Students participate in the campaign with a great enthusiasm and prepare slogans, posters and cards depicting their feelings and thoughts. Girls determine to change the perception of society by working hard and aiming high. They also encourage the children in their neighbourhood to study and become independent.

Constitution Day or Samvidhan Divas

Constitution Day was celebrated on 26th November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India .Students took an oath of the preamble.

Road Safety Campaign

Road Safety Campaign was organized with an aim to enhance awareness and understanding about road safety amongst the students and their families by Delhi Traffic Police. The children were educated about the basic traffic and road safety rules that they need to understand and apply in their day to day life.

World Health Day

'World Health Day' was celebrated with a purpose to inculcate in the learners the importance of maintaining good health. A special assembly was conducted in which the students were told about the general principles of health and hygiene, immunization against diseases, preventive aspects of communicable diseases like- Dengue, Malaria, H1N1, Typhoid etc. Different activities like- Poster Making, Slogan Writing, Debate etc. were also conducted. The students were also educated about keeping good mental and emotional health.

Mock Drill is a regular feature at our school to prepare the learners & staff for any eventuality or disaster. They are guided to vacate the building & assemble in a safe open area according to the evacuation plan displayed outside Principal office.

International Yoga Day: 21st June

Our children participate in International Yoga Day every year. Apart from regular yoga practice they are involved in a week long workshop prior to the same.

Visit to Bal Bhawan

Students of classes VI and VII along with teacher in-charges went to visit Bal Bhawan for attending three days workshop. They did a variety of activities ranging from food preservation, wood craft, vocal music and various form of paintings. They also had a chance to visit the aquatic museum.
